Our History

The studio has grown slowly and carefully, with its foundation built on a love of photography. A hobby turned into a part-time business in 1971 with the photographing of weddings for friends and family. Marketing was simply word of mouth and people liked the creations. Eventually we started advertising and in 1985 second floor space became available at 649 King Street in the Preston Towne Centre.

On October 7th, 1985 I opened the doors full time to John Mitchell Photography. The studio outgrew the space but continued to operate from the cramped second floor location. In 1992 the store directly across the road at 652 King Street became available.

My father gutted, dry walled, painted and cleaned the entire store, put up a partition to make a camera room and in January 1993 we opened in our current location. We thought we were in heaven with a 20 by 29 foot spacious camera room.

Over the years we have seen many changes in the industry. In 2003 we made the transition into the digital age of photography, and look forward to many more exciting years of serving our clients throughout south-western Ontario and beyond.
