Our Philosophy

Three beliefs make up my philosophy:
a) Art is beautiful.
b) Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
c) Photography is art.
When I want to create something beautiful, I create it for me. But, when I am working for you I must create what you consider beautiful. That is why no photography assignment is undertaken without first meeting and getting to know you. Knowing two things; who are the subjects and who is the principle viewer, allows us to design a piece of art uniquely intended for the viewer.

To see beauty, recognize it, and through learned method capture it, is to take a photograph. To go beyond seeing, and to understand not only the beauty, but appreciate its core meaning and emotion, is to see with a difference. Then to blend technical excellence with components of artistic composition and design to make an emotional statement the viewer relates to is to raise photography to the level of art.

Irving Penn said "A good photograph is one that communicates a fact, touches the heart and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it. It is, in a word, effective" My goal is to create "effective" photographs that will put a smile on your face.

The most common comment we hear at the studio is "It looks like a painting!" That is good, because it is a painting. It is painted with light.

We begin with the emotion. We finish with the art.
